Thermal Knife Cutter for Orthodontic Appliances
The thermal splint cutter is a high-efficiency electric thermal knife designed for the modern dental lab bench.
It provides instantaneous heat to cleanly trim vacuum-formed thermoforming plastic sheets without cracking the material.
Technicians can achieve precision margins on every aligner and retainer with minimal effort.
It is the ideal tool for the rapid extraction of orthodontic appliances from stone models.
This device streamlines the finishing process, significantly reducing the time spent on manual trimming and polishing.
Quick-Start Workflow
1. Heat Selection: Power on and dial to the proper temperature for your material thickness (higher for 3.0mm mouthguards, lower for thin 1.0mm trays).
2. Perimeter Scoring: Once the tip is hot (approx. 2-5 seconds), trace the gingival margin with light pressure to “score” the appliance.
3. Hot Extraction: While the plastic is still warm, use the tip to slice a vertical relief cut, then gently peel the appliance away from the stone model.
4. Tip Maintenance: Immediately use the wire brush to remove burnt plastic residue while the tip is still hot to ensure a clean cut for the next case.
